Why I journal every morning
Meditation gets a lot of press, but there’s another self-awareness practice that deserves more airtime: journaling.
I journal several times a week and it helps me in many ways. Writing out my negative thoughts instantly provides relief and it encourages me to explore where these thoughts came from.
After a while, I begin to detach from the emotions and this opens a small window for me to self-coach. ‘I recognise this,’ I’ll think. ‘How would I approach it as a coach?’ I’ll then write out a question and answer it.
Sometimes talking a problem through is what we really need. Mindful journaling is a pretty good substitute.
